Why We Invested: Zivian Health

Platform for Healthcare Providers and Organizations

Zivian Health is the leading healthcare SaaS platform that enables healthcare organizations to connect nurse practitioners (NPs) and physician assistants (PAs) with highly vetted collaborating physicians. This solution addresses critical staffing shortages, supports treatment plans and ensures compliance.

Rally Ventures led Zivian’s $4 Million Series Seed financing, with participation from Crosslink Capital. Below is a short Q&A with Co-Founder and CEO Rafid Fadul, where he talks about how Zivian Health is addressing the staffing shortage in healthcare, how he helps his team succeed and what company and leader he admires most. Welcome to the portfolio, Zivian Health!

1. What is Zivian Health and what core problem does it solve?

Zivian Health is a provider enablement platform serving all allied healthcare workers and supported by a nationwide marketplace for physicians. Zivian’s beachhead was compliance, helping unlock nurse practitioners, physician assistants, nurses and pharmacists across the country to fill in the gaps of healthcare deserts. We are also rolling out bespoke education in addition to our licensing, credentialing, engagement and retention programs.

2. How do you balance the need for innovation with regulatory and compliance requirements in healthcare?

Regulations are in place to protect patients, but they can sometimes lead to unintended consequences that have the opposite effect. We don’t believe in the “move fast and break things” mantra as applied to healthcare, because those fast moves can have unintended consequences that hurt patients. We believe innovation is absolutely necessary in what can only be described as a broken system, but it must be deliberate, efficient and with precision.

3. How do you help your team succeed?

Our team succeeds through three ways:

  1. We obsess over our customers and treat their pain points as our own.
  2. We remember our purpose: Behind every mundane transaction or piece of virtual paperwork is a provider caring for a patient—care that wouldn’t happen without us doing our job.
  3. We empower and trust each other to play our own parts, like an orchestral piece.

4. What companies or leaders do you admire?

Cleveland Clinic Foundation: While every hospital and healthcare org somehow incorporates the “patient first” mantra, nobody else walks the walk like they do. Very few places can be both good businesses and still remain patient-centric.

Marcus Aurelius: a leader who was dealt countless major blows both personally and professionally, yet he remained resilient, maintained his humanity and is recognized as one of the greatest leaders in history and the greatest example of how one should live a fulfilled life.
